John G. Mansfield, Jr. was born on April Fool's Day, 1942 in Tacoma, Washington.

He attended McKinley, Stewart Jr. High, Lincoln and Stadium High Schools, class of '60.

The most fun in school was playing trombone and tuba in the school bands.

John served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-65, with tours in San Diego, Guam Trust Territory and as a Radioman 2nd/class onboard USS Menhaden, a diesel submarine.

In 1966 John married Kathleen Paladie from St Paul, MN and they moved to Washington D.C. where he worked as a communications specialist for the government. They had two tours overseas on the island of Cyprus and Nigeria.  He decided to attend college and went to Green River CC, Univ. of Washington and Univ. of Puget Sound, earning a BA in Communications, class of '75.

Returning to federal service, they had tours in Iran, England and the Washington D.C. area with many TDY trips around the world.

John retired in 1992 and he and Kathi returned home to Washington where he owned The Media Center, an audio-visual production company.  At the same time, John researched, wrote and published "Cruisers For Breakfast: War Patrols of the USS Darter and USS Dace" about the two submarines that started the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944.  John became a real estate agent and is presently with ERA Integrity Realty in Sumner, WA.  John & Kathi divorced in 2000 and he married present wife Lori in 2002. They live in Ashford, WA at the base of Mt Rainier National Park.  John has a daughter Jadene (University Place) and three grandchildren, Maria, Michael & Johnny.

His hobbies are photography, music and working on do-it-yourself projects when time allows.  He looks forward to hearing from Lincoln classmates.  If you wish to make contact, his number is 253 202 6433 (Cell) or email: john@erasumner.com

William Talbot Smith
I am retired and living in Phuket, Thailand.  I also have a profile on classmates.com.  After high school I was in the Tacoma area until I joined the army in 1966, serving a year in Savannah GA and almost two years in Ankara Turkey.  I returned to the US in 1970 and moved to Bellingham where I went to Western Washington College for a couple of years and then owned a retail camera store and a construction company.  I moved to the Sun Valley Idaho area in 1995 where I lived until 2000 when I returned to Bellingham to earn a degree in Civil Engineering.  In 2002 I returned to Idaho working as a supervisor for a large construction company.

I retired to Patong beach, Phuket, Thailand in 2003 where I survived the Dec 26, 2004 tsunami by being fast on my feet and outrunning the wave.  I have a part time avocation of conducting wedding ceremonies for many resorts and hotels.  Married twice, divorced twice and single for the last 23 years.  No children, no dogs, cats or goldfish.  I have a 23 year old girlfriend who thinks I am hot stuff.  Life is good in Thailand.
